As Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction crept north, residents voted to incorporate in 1979 with a population of about 2,445.

Schools

Students attend Conroe ISD schools that feed into Oak Ridge High School, which opened in 1981 as Conroe ISD's third comprehensive high school. Oak Ridge High also serves parts of Shenandoah, Woodloch, Tamina and Imperial Oaks.
