Plumber that won't upsell me a whole new water heater?

   Water heater is making a popping noise and the hot water runs out after one shower. Sat in traffic on 45 for an hour yesterday thinking about it. Who do people use for plumbing around here? I want somebody who will actually tell me if it can be fixed instead of rolling in a new tank before they look.

   Paul The Plumber!! Y'all, he is the best. We had a slab leak scare last year and he came out, ran a camera, and told us it was actually just a bad valve. Could have charged us for a lot more and didn't. He's in Conroe off 105 but he's out here constantly. Have you flushed the tank ever? Popping is sometimes just sediment!

   The popping is almost certainly sediment if the tank is older than about eight years and nobody has ever flushed it. That said, flushing an old tank that has never been flushed can sometimes open up a leak you did not have before, so it is worth having a plumber look rather than doing it yourself on a Saturday. Bradbury Brothers are the other big name. Huge operation, right here on Trade Center Pkwy, and they have thousands of reviews. For a straight water heater diagnosis I would call Paul first.

   Oh good point Andy, I didn't know that about old tanks! See, this is why I love this forum.
