  That narrows it a lot actually. Call ahead and ask for a table away from the bar, most places will do it if you are early.

  Go in with a plan to leave before the end. You will not regret missing the last song nearly as much as you will regret the parking lot afterward with tired kids.

• Deer in the yard, what actually works and what is a waste of money

  Sprays work for me only if I reapply after every rain, which is the part everybody skips. The noise gadgets did nothing at all.

• How strict is your village actually about fences and paint colors?

  Ours went through with no drama, took a few weeks. Neighbor two doors down got turned down and resubmitted with a different stain and it was fine. So it is not arbitrary, it is just slower than you want it to be.

• What has changed the most since you moved here?

  I notice it most on weekends. Weekday middle of the day still feels close to what it was. Saturday is a different town.
