Looking for a good Vietnamese spot around here where the pho broth actually has rich depth, not just a massive bowl of weak salt water. Where are people going lately?

Lucky Cafe on Glen Loch. Cheap, reliable, and our family has been going there for years for bánh mì and pho.

Retired. Walking the paths since the paths were dirt.

Lucky Cafe is fine for a quick bite, but if you want really rich broth you have to head down 2920 to Fu Manchung in Spring. It is a quirky family-run spot, but the pho broth has great flavor. Grab a cà phê sữa đá while you are there.

    Cheaper taxes, longer drive.

If broth quality is the main priority, EAD Vietnamese Restaurant in Shenandoah off I-45 S is the clear choice. It is an offshoot of Huynh down in Houston. The dining room is large and bright, and beyond the pho, their chicken wonton is far better than typical.

If it opened on Market Street, I've been.

Appreciate the suggestions. Is EAD usually packed during lunch hour, or is the dining room large enough that getting a table isn't a headache?

EAD has a large, bright space so seating usually flows pretty well even during peak times. Don't sleep on their plated entrees either if you want to explore the menu. If you want something closer to the front of the township on Sawdust without going out to Shenandoah, Pho Viet Tastes is another solid casual comfort food spot.

I'd try EAD first if broth is what you're after. Pho Viet Tastes is a good fallback when you want to stay closer to Sawdust.

    This has been covered. Twice.

We love stopping by Fu Manchung when we are down near Spring. The curry is fantastic if someone in the family wants something other than soup, and my kids always get the Thai milk tea.

I have to agree with the recommendations for EAD. We went last week and the pho broth was exactly what I was looking for, very rich and flavorful.

EAD is our family's go to spot now. We have never had a problem getting a table, even on a weekend, and the kids actually finish their bowls.

5 a.m. miles before the humidity wins.

I've been to EAD a handful of times for lunch meetings near the hospital campuses, and the broth really does stand out, you can tell they simmer it properly. The dining room handles crowds well, so even at noon on a weekday we've gotten seated within a few minutes.

Lucky Cafe is my go-to when I need a quick lunch before math club practice, but honestly the broth there is more light and serviceable than what you're describing. EAD is definitely the better choice if depth of flavor matters to you, I've grabbed pho there after taking the kids to the aquatic center and the broth actually tastes like it's been simmering all day.
