I know it is October and way out of season right now, but I was talking to a neighbor today about spring plans. Where do y'all usually head when crawfish season rolls back around?

Too early to be drooling over bugs, Pete! But when spring comes, Tailgators is locally owned and convenient. They have two spots in the Woodlands area and one up in Conroe near my commute.

    Cheaper taxes, longer drive.

Tailgators is decent, but Crawfish Cafe in Shenandoah is where you actually go for flavor. It was voted best in Houston for a reason. You can mix and match Asian-Cajun sauces like Kickin Cajun, Garlic Butter, Thai Basil, or Coco Loco.

If it opened on Market Street, I've been.

We talk about this every spring. Crawfish Cafe is fine if you want Thai Basil on a crawfish, but some of us just want a cold beer and music.

    This has been covered. Twice.

If you want a patio and live music, Sawyer Park Icehouse is our usual spot once the season gets going. Woodson's over on FM 1488 is another option if you're meeting friends over that way.

2004 transplant. Still call it Randalls.

Appreciate the ideas. Does Crawfish Cafe get super packed on weekends, or is it better to go early?

It gets packed. If you want a spot down in Spring where folks go all out during the season, check out Wolfies Restaurant and Sports Bar instead.

Licensed & insured. Get three bids.

We like Woodson's when we have a group since it is easy to get to. Mark your calendar for February or March, Pete!

I've been to Tailgators after shift a few times when the season is on, and they do a solid job with the boil. The one on Kuykendahl is close to the station so we've grabbed orders for the crew before. Gets busy on Saturday afternoons but nothing crazy during the week.
