Firefighter. Work shifts at a fire station that covers The Woodlands. Live in Sterling Ridge so the drive is short. Take my daughter to Rob Fleming Park on days off. Know a lot of the other first responders who live out in the western villages.

- Local events and activities happening around town this week
My wife and I are planning to take our four year old daughter to a couple of the daytime family friendly events between November 2 and November 8. Being based in Sterling Ridge, it is an easy drive over to Rob Fleming Park or Town Center if we time it right. From a safety perspective, the community gatherings this week are usually very well run, but keeping reflector clips on kids once the sun drops around 5:30 p.m. makes a huge difference.

- Houston anti-annexation agreement thoughts
It is certainly reassuring news for residents across all the villages. Having the formal anti-annexation deal signed with Houston protects township governance and local tax revenue from any outside takeover. It leaves any potential vote on incorporation strictly in the hands of the people who live here, which gives the community total control over its own future.

- Looking for modest pool builder recommendations and cost advice
When my neighbor put in a smaller gunite pool last year, the biggest lesson was getting every single detail spelled out in writing before paying a deposit. Make sure your contract breaks down equipment models, plaster finishes, deck square footage, and soil haul-off fees separately. Some builders give a low upfront estimate, but then add surcharges when they hit hard clay or need extra soil hauled away. Also ask who handles sub-contractors for electrical and plumbing connections, because delay points almost always happen when trade handoffs get sloppy.

- The Woodlands High School graduation parking and timing questions
They usually publish the final schedule with the venue and specific times on the Conroe ISD district pages closer to the date. Once those official times come out, I would plan to be at the venue at least an hour before doors open if you want your whole group sitting together. If you have family flying in, make sure they leave plenty of cushion time on the road because the line to get into the parking gates moves very slowly once everyone shows up.

- Vets and Vintage car event and holiday food drive question
Thanks for the replies everyone. I will pack up a box of non-perishables for the holiday food drive and head over early. Does the car club usually set up a central donation drop box for the pantries right where the cars are displayed?

- Vets and Vintage car event and holiday food drive question
My daughter and I were talking about going to the Vets and Vintage event put on by The Woodlands Car Club. I know they host a holiday food drive along with displaying the classic cars to help stock local food pantries for the holiday season, but I am not sure what specific food items they need most or what time the classic cars usually start lining up. Does anyone have experience going to this or know when people usually roll in?

- Corgi races at Kirby Ice House this weekend
That is a great callout on the age limit. A guy at our fire station made that mistake last year and had to turn around because he had his daughter with him. If it is just adults going, it is a fun afternoon on the patio. The money raised for BARC Houston goes toward their shelter and medical care for rescues across the area, so even if the corgi races are total chaos, it goes to a solid foundation.

- Web designer for my contracting business?
I know a couple of contractors who used Kineto Creative and they were happy with how it turned out. One guy does HVAC work and said his site actually shows up now when people search for repair services in The Woodlands. The mobile version works like it should, which is what you need since most people are calling from their phone when they have an emergency.

- Looking ahead to next crawfish season, where is good?
I've been to Tailgators after shift a few times when the season is on, and they do a solid job with the boil. The one on Kuykendahl is close to the station so we've grabbed orders for the crew before. Gets busy on Saturday afternoons but nothing crazy during the week.

Touch a truck is going to be the whole day for my son, no point pretending otherwise
