Looking over the schedule of events happening around The Woodlands for November 2 through November 8. I usually spend my mornings walking the quiet trails around Falconwing Park, but my wife and I were thinking about getting out for one of the local gatherings or evening entertainment options this week. What is everyone planning to check out between November 2 and November 8? Is parking going to be a headache for the Town Center activities?

The early November lineup has grown quite a bit over the years. Back when Alden Bridge was still build-out territory, we did not have nearly as many organized community gatherings on the calendar for this specific week. November 2 through November 8 usually marks the turn into the fall events season. If you are looking at family friendly activities around Town Center or the parks, the main thing to watch is how early the evening crowds form once people get off work.

Before you head out to any of the township sponsored gatherings between November 2 and November 8, just remember where the budget comes from. A small percentage of your local tax bill goes toward maintaining the parks and venues for these community entertainment options. If you run your own numbers on what the township spends per event, you would want to attend every single scheduled activity just to get your money back. Run your own numbers.

Good luck getting anywhere near Town Center for events this week. I-45 south was down to a crawl yesterday at 4:30 p.m. and it took me forty five minutes just to get from the Energy Corridor exit to Research Forest. If an event starts at 6 p.m. between November 2 and November 8, you need to leave your house by 4:00 p.m. or you will spend the entire night sitting at the traffic light by Grogan's Mill Road.

45 South at 6:10am. Every day. Pray for me.

Appreciate the perspective Andy. For the traffic situation, is I-45 backed up all the way onto Woodlands Parkway around 5 p.m. this week, or is it mostly just the northbound off-ramps?

I am hoping to take a short study break from clinic prep one evening between November 2 and November 8 to check out some of the local gatherings. In Creekside Park near the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, things tend to stay a little quieter than Town Center, but the family friendly options around the outdoor spaces are nice when you just need an hour of fresh air. If you are worried about traffic on Woodlands Parkway around 5 p.m., cutting through the back paths or sticking closer to your home village usually saves twenty minutes.

If you are attending any outdoor gatherings or park events from November 2 through November 8, please keep an eye on where people are stepping. Late autumn is when our native perennials are settling in, and every year after these early November community happenings I see foot traffic tearing up the naturalized garden borders near the greenbelts. Enjoy the entertainment options, but watch the plant beds.

    Native plants or nothing.

My wife and I are planning to take our four year old daughter to a couple of the daytime family friendly events between November 2 and November 8. Being based in Sterling Ridge, it is an easy drive over to Rob Fleming Park or Town Center if we time it right. From a safety perspective, the community gatherings this week are usually very well run, but keeping reflector clips on kids once the sun drops around 5:30 p.m. makes a huge difference.
