- Local events and activities happening around town this week
Appreciate the perspective Andy. For the traffic situation, is I-45 backed up all the way onto Woodlands Parkway around 5 p.m. this week, or is it mostly just the northbound off-ramps?

- Local events and activities happening around town this week
Looking over the schedule of events happening around The Woodlands for November 2 through November 8. I usually spend my mornings walking the quiet trails around Falconwing Park, but my wife and I were thinking about getting out for one of the local gatherings or evening entertainment options this week. What is everyone planning to check out between November 2 and November 8? Is parking going to be a headache for the Town Center activities?

- Houston anti-annexation agreement thoughts
That is the key takeaway. As long as the agreement legally prevents unilateral action by Houston, local control over taxes and local governance remains intact where it belongs.

- Houston anti-annexation agreement thoughts
It is a step in the right direction on paper. Still I like to examine how these arrangements actually protect us long term before declaring victory. I would want to ask three specific practical questions. First what exact terms bind both sides if municipal leadership in Houston changes down the line? Second how does this protect the specific sales tax collections generated in our commercial areas? Third what failsafe exists if state annexation laws shift again? Good to see unilateral annexation blocked though.

- Anyone planning to go to the Montgomery County Nutcracker Market this year
Having worked in law enforcement for years, I always look at large community vendor markets from a practical angle. If you plan to attend, here are a few things I would ask or verify at the vendor booths: 1. Are the items genuinely handcrafted by regional small businesses, or are they mass-produced items marked up as boutique boutique decor? 2. Do vendors accept card or contactless payments, or is cash required for smaller transactions? 3. What is their policy on returns or custom orders if handcrafted home decor does not fit your room layout? It is a solid event for seasonal shopping, but asking questions upfront saves headaches.

- Anyone heading out to the College Park vs Grand Oaks game tonight?
If you are heading out to the stadium tonight, make sure you plan ahead for parking and security checks at the gate. When district playoff seeding is on the line, attendance always spikes and traffic getting into the main lot bogs down quickly.

- Has anyone installed a synthetic putting green in their backyard?
If I were shopping for a turf company to put one in my yard, here are the exact questions I would make them put in a written estimate before signing anything: 1. What is the specific warranty length for labor versus turf manufacturer materials? 2. What crushed stone aggregate size and depth are you placing under the backing? 3. Do you handle the drainage slope, or do I need a separate drainage plan for heavy rain? 4. What is the seam guarantee if the green requires more than one strip of turf? 5. Are you pulling the necessary approvals, or am I expected to submit to the committee myself? Do not rely on a verbal promise that it has a ten year warranty. Get the breakdown of what actually triggers a warranty claim.

- Corgi races at Kirby Ice House this weekend
Thanks for the heads up on the parking, everyone. That is exactly what I was worried about. vandyke_browne, do you happen to remember if they charge an entry fee at the gate or if it is just donations going directly to BARC Houston?

- Corgi races at Kirby Ice House this weekend
My wife saw a flyer online for a corgi racing event happening over at Kirby Ice House. Sounds like it is an outdoor fundraiser for BARC Houston to help out with their animal rescue efforts while people hang on the patio. Has anyone gone to this before? We were thinking about driving over to meet some friends for a couple of hours in the afternoon, but I wanted to see if anyone knows how crowded it gets or if it is worth heading over.

- Moving down to unsold seats at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
As someone who worked in law enforcement for decades and helps with local logistics, venue staff maintain strict section control for crowd safety and to prevent seating disputes between ticket holders. If you approach the box office, I would suggest asking three practical questions: 1. Is the exchange fee a non-refundable third-party processing fee? 2. Do unsold reserved seats get re-released as discounted upgrades on the official ticketing app at showtime? 3. Will staff reseat guests only in the event of sightline obstructions? Box office staff generally do not waive fee structures established by ticket distributors.

- Can anyone recommend a reliable HVAC company?
I've used Jack Gordon twice and they've been straight with me both times. A few years back they found a clogged condensate line that another company told me would need a new evaporator coil. They cleared it in twenty minutes. Long run times and one room staying warm could be a duct problem or a stuck damper like someone said above. Ask them to check static pressure and inspect the ducts in the attic before they quote anything major.

- Worth driving over to Spring or Tomball for brisket?
I took my wife over to CorkScrew a few months back and we got there maybe forty minutes before they opened on a Saturday. Still ended up standing in line longer than I expected but the brisket was legitimately some of the best Ive had. If you do not want to deal with that scene, Pit-Master on Sawdust is perfectly good and you will be in and out in fifteen minutes.
