Looking for Halloween events around the villages this weekend for the kids. Town Center usually gets gridlocked, so I am wondering what local parks or neighborhood gatherings y'all are planning to hit up. Are the public trick-or-treat spots organized at the parks better than staying in your own village?

We always see tons of families walking around Town Center during the community celebrations (my wife and I usually watch all the creative costumes from the patio on Market Street while taking a dinner break). I know several local organizations and parks are organizing public trick-or-treat opportunities this weekend geared toward children of all ages, so you definitely have great options outside of just walking your own street!

Have my kids this weekend. We usually do the organized park activities first. Less walking for younger ones. Then neighborhood gatherings after dark. Parking at the local parks fills up fast. Go early.

Appreciate the tip on getting there early dirtylowdownratfink. Do the public trick-or-treat events at the parks usually start before sunset or are they mostly evening stuff?

When looking at Halloween activities with my teenager, I usually check three things. First, whether the local organization hosting it requires registration. Second, what age group the park activities are actually geared toward. Third, whether parking is onsite or down the road. The community celebrations around Town Center are nice, but the local park trick-or-treat events are usually much easier to navigate.

My four year old has been wearing his superhero costume around the house since Tuesday (and honestly, I am just praying he does not spill juice on it before Saturday). We are planning to hit one of the public trick-or-treat events organized at the parks during the daytime. The neighborhood gatherings in College Park are always fun later on, but the organized park stuff is great when you have little ones with short attention spans!

If you go to anything around Town Center or the main parks, park two blocks away and walk. People park like idiots during public community celebrations. The village neighborhood gatherings are much less hassle if you just want to avoid traffic chaos.

We usually split the weekend between a public trick-or-treat event hosted by local organizations and walking our own neighborhood. My kids are 10 and 14, so they like the larger community celebrations near Town Center, but the local park activities are very well organized for families with younger children too. It is nice having so many family-friendly options across the area.

My wife and I love seeing all the kids in their costumes during the neighborhood gatherings each year. The community celebrations organized across the local parks and public spaces really showcase how family-friendly the community is. If you want to avoid heavy traffic near Town Center, the smaller park events hosted by local groups are a wonderful alternative.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback everybody. Sounds like hitting the early park activities organized by local groups and then doing our own neighborhood gathering afterwards is the move to dodge the worst of the Town Center traffic.
