Town Center

Town Center & the Waterway

The walkable heart of The Woodlands, from Market Street and the Pavilion to the Waterway.

Overview

Town Center is the roughly 1,000-acre urban core of The Woodlands. The Woodlands Mall, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Market Street, the Waterway and Hughes Landing all sit within about a 10-minute walk of one another, which makes it one of the most walkable destinations in the Houston area. A free trolley runs a 4.1-mile loop connecting the mall, Market Street, the Waterway and Hughes Landing.

The Woodlands Waterway

The Waterway is a landscaped canal of about 1.4 miles that links Town Center to Lake Woodlands. Construction began in 1999 and was completed in phases over almost two decades. Residents and visitors walk or run the path, kayak, ride the Waterway Cruiser water taxi, or rent kayaks and pedal boats at the Riva Row Boat House. Waterway Square has a splash pad and choreographed fountains, and Town Green Park hosts the Waterway Arts Festival and other community events.

Market Street and The Woodlands Mall

Market Street is an open-air, Main Street-style shopping and dining district of about 34 acres with luxury retailers, restaurants and a central lawn that hosts outdoor movies in summer and the community Christmas tree lighting each November. Local favorites here include Schilleci's New Orleans Kitchen, Mastro's Ocean Club, Sixty Vines and Bosscat Kitchen. Next door, The Woodlands Mall has more than one million square feet of retail.

Hughes Landing

Hughes Landing is a 66-acre mixed-use development on the south shore of Lake Woodlands, best known for Restaurant Row. Truluck's, Del Frisco's Grille, Charolais by Chef Simmons, State Fare, Escalante's and Fogo de Chao are all here, along with a Whole Foods, offices, apartments, the Embassy Suites and a lakeside band shell.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

The Pavilion, at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, is a nonprofit outdoor amphitheater with about 16,500 covered and lawn seats. Pollstar consistently ranks it among the top outdoor amphitheaters in the world. Beyond major touring acts, it also hosts the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera, which makes the summer concert season one of the biggest topics in the community.

Town Center taxes

Town Center properties pay the regular Township tax plus a Town Center Owners Association fee of $0.12 per $100, for a total around $1.85 to $1.86 per $100.
