My guys at work want to get Indian lunch this week, but I am tired of ordering the standard butter chicken every single time. Looking for something with real flavor and different dishes in or around the area. Where should we go and what should a novice actually order?

If you want a high-end experience, Amrina at 3 Waterway Square Place is fantastic. Everyone talks about dinner, but their happy hour wagyu burger is a great local secret, and brunch has a jackfruit Benedict Florentine. For a standard sit-down meal, head to Palette Indian Kitchen on Rayford Road in Spring and get the Goan shrimp curry with Peshwari naan.

If it opened on Market Street, I've been.

Amrina is fine if you want to clear out your wallet, but if you want fair prices, hit Khau Gully on Rayford Road instead. It is vegetarian street food and their samosa chaat is excellent without breaking the bank.

    Cheaper taxes, longer drive.

If you want bold flavors beyond butter chicken, try Hyderabad House at 407 Sawdust Rd. I usually take my family there when we want something traditional with a kick. We always order the crispy gobi to start, followed by the dum biryani and the goat vindaloo. The vindaloo has serious heat, so be ready for it, but the flavor is incredible.

Appreciate the quick replies. That goat vindaloo at Hyderabad House sounds like what I am looking for. Is Palette Indian Kitchen pretty quick for lunch, or is it strictly a slow sit-down spot?

Palette is good. Order the chicken popsicles and lamb seekh kabob.

We recently moved to the area and have been wanting to try Namaste Indian Cuisine on Sawdust. I saw they focus on chaat along with some South Indian and fusion dishes. Has anyone tried their chaat selection yet?

Palette Indian Kitchen is very welcoming if you end up taking a group. It is a family-run favorite and they are very good with vegetarian options too. My husband loves the lamb seekh kabob there.

Sawdust Road has plenty of options if you just drive down it. Namaste is right over there for chaat, and Hyderabad House is just down the street if you want dum biryani. No need to overcomplicate it.

    This has been covered. Twice.

If you need a quick lunch break, Khau Gully on Rayford is brisk, straightforward, and great for a quick samosa chaat. Or if you want to splurge for happy hour after work, hit Amrina for that wagyu burger.

    Shop local, file on time.

I go to Hyderabad House pretty often (it's really close to the hospital, so we grab takeout maybe twice a month). For lunch with coworkers the dum biryani is the move because everyone gets their own portion and you don't have to share sauce like with curries. The goat vindaloo is legit spicy though, so maybe have one person order it and everyone can taste before committing. Their crispy gobi is addictive if you need a safe appetizer to start.

Palette is reasonably quick for lunch if you call ahead, but I would budget 45 minutes on site if you walk in cold. Their lamb seekh kabob is solid and the Goan shrimp curry has good heat without being overwhelming. For something less familiar try the chicken popsicles as an appetizer, they are basically spiced drumsticks and my favorite thing on the menu.
