Saw the announcement for Chevelle at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Thursday, October 10th at 8:00 PM. I always keep their albums on my trail running playlist because the high energy and distinct vocals are great for keeping pace on long runs. They seem to have a surprisingly massive fan base around here every time they tour. Is anyone else planning to grab tickets for this show?

Honestly I had no idea they were playing here! My husband used to blast The Red on repeat back when we were first dating. A Thursday night show is a little tough with two kids and school the next morning, but honestly we might have to grab lawn seats just for the nostalgia. Do lawn tickets usually sell out fast for mid-week rock shows?

October 10th is right before our fall break weekend, so my alarm will not be setQuite as early on Friday morning. That vocal style carries so well across the outdoor acoustics at the Pavilion. The biggest headache is going to be navigating Town Center traffic around 7:00 PM if school meetings run late.

Saw them a few years back when they played in Houston. Loudest heavy guitar and drum mix you will ever hear live, the riffage is unreal in person. If you go, do yourself a favor and park in the garage over on Six Pines Drive instead of trying to hit the surface lots right off Lake Robbins Drive. You will save yourself twenty minutes of sitting in gridlock after the encore.

Hector, thanks for the parking recommendation on Six Pines. Is that lot free for concert guests or do you have to prepay online ahead of time?

Prepay online if you want a guaranteed spot close to the walkway, but if you show up before 7:00 PM you can usually pay at the entrance. Just do not try to park on Waterway Avenue unless you want to pay top dollar and spend an hour backing out.

I am working the night shift that Thursday so I will just be hearing the bass echoing across the trees from the hospital garage while I start my rounds. Every fall we get a few people coming into the ER after these late outdoor shows with ruined hearing or sprained ankles from tumbling down the lawn hill in the dark. Wear sensible shoes if you are sitting on the grass.

Mid-week concerts are always great for Town Center foot traffic before 8:00 PM. We usually see a decent bump in people grabbing dinner nearby around 6:00 PM. If you are planning to eat beforehand, make reservations now because the patio spots fill up fast on show nights.

    Shop local, file on time.

You can actually hear the entire set clearly from the pathways near Northshore Park if the wind is blowing out of the south. I was out doing an evening bird count during a show last autumn and could identify almost every track from half a mile away across Lake Woodlands.

    Binoculars in the glovebox, always.

Our labs always let us know when a loud show starts up at the Pavilion! We live over in Cochran's Crossing and on clear October nights the bass vibrates right through the back patio glass. Hope everyone going has a great time. Just remember to leave the dogs at home, the sound level down by the stage is far too intense for pet ears.
