I am wrapping up some quarterly tax filings early this week and hoping to take my family out for a bit of a breather over the upcoming weekend. Are there any local community gatherings or outdoor events scheduled around town for the week of October 5 through October 11? Looking for solid ideas to get everyone out of the house for a few hours.

Always good to step away from the desk for a bit! I am planning to hit a few outdoor patio spots and local taprooms over that October 5th to 11th stretch. A lot of the local spots start putting on fall community events, live music, and food pop-ups once the October weather cools off. If you want family-friendly options, the places with large lawn games and open seating are usually a hit on a Saturday afternoon.

Fall weather is finally making outdoor activities bearable. If you want family time outside between October 5 and 11, just head out to the trails early in the morning before the afternoon crowds arrive near Town Center.

October 5 through 11 is right in the middle of peak fall bird migration through Montgomery County. If your family enjoys quiet outdoor outings, bring a pair of binoculars down to any of the greenbelt paths. You will likely spot warblers and songbirds moving through the canopy throughout the week.

    Binoculars in the glovebox, always.

Honestly, I am looking for ideas for that exact week too. My husband will be traveling for work that week, so I need activities to keep my two kids from bouncing off the walls. An outdoor morning walk on the trails sounds like a great way to wear them out.
