We are adding an EV charger in the garage and the builder grade panel in our Cochran's Crossing house is apparently not going to cut it. Kindly recommend a licensed electrician who has done panel replacements in older Woodlands homes. I will be asking about ARC separately for the exterior work, so no need to lecture me on that.

Bale's Electric has been around forever, since the 60s I think. They did a panel upgrade for us out in Grogan's Mill a couple years back when we added a generator. Really professional guys, knew exactly what they were doing with an older house. They are based in Conroe but serve all of The Woodlands.

    Measure twice, call once.

I'll add a recommendation for Murphy's Electric. They are a woman owned business, which I like to support. They installed a whole home surge protector for us and did a great job. Everything was clean and the price was exactly what they quoted. I know for a fact they do panel upgrades. https://murphyselectric.com/

    Shop local, file on time.

A lot of folks must be doing upgrades. I've seen a couple different electrician vans on my street in Panther Creek over the past month. Good luck with the project.

Retired. Walking the paths since the paths were dirt.

We used AAA Bishop Electric for a similar job. They are right here in The Woodlands, on Bristlecone Trl. It is an owner operated company and they've been in business for a long time. They handled our panel replacement and got our generator hooked up before hurricane season. Very solid work. Their number is (281) 363-0991.

This is all very helpful, thank you everyone. For those of you who had panel work done, how long did the permit side of things take? I'd rather not have the garage torn apart for weeks waiting on paperwork.

The permit for ours took about two weeks but Bale's handled all of it, we didn't have to do anything except sign the homeowner acknowledgment form. The actual work was done in a day once they got the go-ahead from the county.
