- Low key ways to meet people around here for introverts in their 30s
If you want practical advice on meeting good people without loud nonsense look into local volunteer work like habitat builds or community park maintenance days. You get paired up with one or two people, fix something or plant trees, and you actually get to know them while doing real work.

- Recommendations for pool decking, tile, and coping renovation
If you are hiring out for coping and decking, the biggest issue I see on pool jobs in our area is people skipping proper prep work. When they tear out old coping stone, they need to make sure the bond beam underneath is structural and clean before laying down new tile and coping. For the decking, ask specifically if they are installing a proper expansion joint between the pool coping and the deck. If they pour concrete or lay pavers right against the coping without an expansion joint, pool movement will crack your new tile within two seasons. Get detailed line items showing demo work, material specs, and surface prep. Never pay more than a standard down payment until materials hit your driveway.

- Anyone going to the Chevelle concert at the Pavilion on October 10th?
Prepay online if you want a guaranteed spot close to the walkway, but if you show up before 7:00 PM you can usually pay at the entrance. Just do not try to park on Waterway Avenue unless you want to pay top dollar and spend an hour backing out.

- Anyone going to the Chevelle concert at the Pavilion on October 10th?
Saw them a few years back when they played in Houston. Loudest heavy guitar and drum mix you will ever hear live, the riffage is unreal in person. If you go, do yourself a favor and park in the garage over on Six Pines Drive instead of trying to hit the surface lots right off Lake Robbins Drive. You will save yourself twenty minutes of sitting in gridlock after the encore.

- Eat This Fast & Fresh opening second location in Creekside
I do a lot of repair work in Creekside Park and lunch is usually whatever I can grab in ten minutes between service calls. Another nearby dining choice down there will be nice to have on the route. My only concern with these new retail spots in Creekside is parking. Some of those lots get jammed full right at noon, so hopefully they have decent space for folks pulling in and out quick.

- Battle of the Oaks game: Grand Oaks vs Oak Ridge
Rivalry games are always unpredictable like that. A team gets a big lead early and thinks it's over, then the other side makes adjustments at halftime and suddenly you have a ballgame. Grand Oaks did what they needed to do to hold on for three in a row, but Oak Ridge definitely made them work for it in the end.

- Heading to the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street this year?
I went last year with my wife after finishing up a job in Grogan's Mill. It gets packed around the center lawn, but vendor layout is decent. You get a good mix of craft beers along with the wine stations, which keeps guys like me happy while the wives check out the wine tastings. My advice is to get there right when it opens so you aren't waiting in long lines for the food plates.

- Thinking about applying for the Development Standards Committee volunteer openings
Thanks for the insight. GrogansMillGal, did he ever mention how many hours a week it took just to digest the packets? I deal with building drawings every day for work, but going through dozens of residential application files after a ten-hour day on site sounds like a full second job.

- Thinking about applying for the Development Standards Committee volunteer openings
Saw the Township put out a notice looking for resident volunteers to apply for the Development Standards Committee. Since I spend half my life pulling permits or fixing work that homeowners got flagged for, I am actually considering tossing my hat in the ring. Anyone here served on the DSC or an RDRC in the past? Just wondering what the actual workload is like between reviewing property modification requests and handling covenant enforcement cases once the Board makes the appointments.

- All-abilities pickleball at local parks?
My neighbor went out to one of those inclusive sessions after finishing up knee rehab last month. He was worried about jumping back onto a court, but he said the setup was completely low-pressure and welcoming for any physical ability or skill level. He said folks were happy to share gear, but grabbing a cheap paddle set yourself is never a bad idea.

- Cooking oil spill on I-45 main lanes today
Cleaning up 5,000 gallons of oil off asphalt is no joke. If you do not degrease that road surface properly, the first rain will turn that section of I-45 into an ice rink. Heavy duty absorbent and power washing takes hours, so crews actually did a pretty fast job getting the slick cleared and the lanes reopened before evening rush got even worse.

- War of the Woods rain game on Friday
Spent Saturday morning blowing water out of my truck bed from all the tailgating gear we shoved in there during the rain storm. Those field conditions were brutal, both offensive lines were slipping all over the place. College Park played tough in the rain, but TWHS executed better on those short ground plays when nobody could pass without the ball sliding out. Good local game.

- Lone Star College lower tax rate and tax bills
That rate drop is kind of like when I give a customer a small discount on labor but the price of copper pipe went up ten percent that morning. You feel good about the lower rate until the total line at the bottom comes out looking about the same. Still, better to have them paying down debt than burning through a surplus.

- Coco Classic tennis tournament questions
Thanks CreeksideCoachT and GrogansMillGal. That is good to hear about the evening and weekend scheduling. When they set up the draw categories, do they go off self-ratings or do you just pick the recreational skill bracket that fits? I haven't played a formal match in a decade.

- Tried out The Dumpling Zone on Metropark Drive
I grabbed lunch there after wrapping up a repair job nearby. You are dead on about those pork soup dumplings, they are the real deal. Three dollars for a can of lemonade or soda with zero refills definitely caught my attention when the bill came, but the food quality makes up for it. I will just stick to water next time.
