Thinking about entering the Coco Classic Tennis Tournament this fall to get back into draw matches. Does anyone here have experience playing in it? How do they handle the division brackets and scheduling for recreational players who work full time?

They break it down into skill brackets so you are not getting thrown to the wolves right out of the gate. Draw categories cover recreational up through solid regional players. Scheduling was pretty reasonable, mostly late afternoons and weekends so you shouldn't have to miss work unless you make a deep run into the finals! Great way to test the knees out.
Hydrate. Then hydrate again.

Back in the nineties we used to have smaller round-robin setup games across the older village courts, but this tournament draws folks from all over Montgomery County now. From what she tells me, they post the draw brackets a few days before matches start so you can plan your schedule around work. Just make sure you sign up early because the recreational draw categories tend to fill up fast once word gets around.
Old enough to remember when Research Forest was two lanes.

When they set up the draw categories, do they go off self-ratings or do you just pick the recreational skill bracket that fits? I haven't played a formal match in a decade.

You just pick the draw category that matches your ability so you are not stuck playing against college ringers! Also make sure you pack plenty of water and electrolytes, Texas fall weather is unpredictable and those outdoor courts hold heat.
Chlorine is a perfume.

She signed up for her skill bracket, played a couple matches on Saturday, and then we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the courts. Good atmosphere overall. If you haven't played match tennis in a while, just stretch out real good because watching her limp around the kitchen the next morning was something else.
Low and slow, y'all.

Three kids, one minivan, zero silence.

A few ladies from my garden group go to watch their spouses play in the Coco Classic. It is always a polite, friendly crowd. Just be sure to hydrate properly, especially if matches stretch into three sets under the sun.
Native plants or nothing.

Fountain show at 7, meltdown at 7:15.
