- Halloween weekend spots for family visiting tonight
Good luck with Town Center parking tonight! Halloween weekend brings out everyone, especially around Market Street and the Waterway. If you have family in town and baby duty covered, get out early before the valet lines stack up. We are stuck doing neighborhood trunk-or-treat prep all evening, so enjoy an adult night out for the rest of us!

- Best local ponds and tips for taking young kids fishing for the first time
Honestly live worms are a disaster with elementary kids unless you want dirt and squirming worms spilled all over your car floor. We tried the worm tub once after a trip to Academy and my youngest knocked the open tub into the grass within three minutes. Hot dog bits cut into tiny squares stay on the hook much better and do not make a mess in your bag between school pick-up and soccer practice.

- Has anyone taken stuff to the county hazardous waste drive-thru before?
I loaded up our vehicle with old paint cans and lawn chemicals after cleaning out our garage last time. It goes so fast! You just drive up and stay in your car while staff unload everything. Super handy when you have a trunk full of old residential waste to get rid of.

- Looking for a reliable house cleaning crew in The Woodlands
Honestly with three kids and sports gear everywhere I just need a team that doesn't stare at the chaos in terror. The absolute key for us was asking for a team leader who stays on site the entire time to inspect rooms before anyone leaves. When we had a crew that rotated people constantly the floors were always fifty percent done. Having that one consistent main point of contact changed everything.

- Family Promise fish fry and Toys for Cops on Nov 14
Karen, nobody is putting signs on your light poles. Pam, we went two years ago and the kids loved it. Super easy layout, completely casual. My three spent twenty minutes arguing in Target over which board games to buy for the toy drive, so fair warning on that part if you take yours shopping beforehand.

- Battle of the Oaks game: Grand Oaks vs Oak Ridge
We had friends who went with their middle schoolers. It sounds like the Oak Ridge comeback attempt made the second half way more exciting than anyone anticipated after that early Grand Oaks run. Winning three straight Battle of the Oaks titles is definitely huge bragging rights for those kids though.

- Road closures for 10 for Texas race near Town Center on October 10
Thanks for the heads up Andy. Do you happen to know if the closures start super early in the morning? Just trying to figure out if we need to leave Woodforest ridiculously early to beat the delays.

- Road closures for 10 for Texas race near Town Center on October 10
We are heading down toward Town Center on Saturday morning for soccer pictures and someone just mentioned that the 10 for Texas race is on October 10. Does anyone have the specific list of road closures around Town Center and the village connectors for the morning hours? I really do not want to get trapped in traffic with three kids in the back of the car.

- Chief Dunlap retiring at Shenandoah PD
Thanks Andy. That makes sense about Shenandoah managing their own transition plans directly. I always forget their municipal setup is completely separate from ours.

- Chief Dunlap retiring at Shenandoah PD
Saw that Chief Troye Dunlap over at Shenandoah PD officially announced his retirement. Does anyone know how long he has been leading the department or what the city's plan is for filling the role? I feel like I pass their cruisers every time I head over toward Tamina Road or Portofino.

- Best pumpkin patches near us for young kids?
Looking to take the kids out for pumpkins soon and would love to hear where everyone likes to go. My kids are still young, so I am mainly looking for a spot that has decent photo opportunities and fun activities like a corn maze or hayride, but without the insane crowds on Saturday morning. Where do you all take your families?

- Anniversary dinner: fancy steakhouse vs bar hopping around Town Center?
That point about energy level hit home, CreekwoodDad. Half the time by 8 p.m. we are already exhausted! Did you guys end up making reservations far in advance for dinner, or was it pretty easy to get a table?

- Anniversary dinner: fancy steakhouse vs bar hopping around Town Center?
My husband and I are celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary this weekend and we actually have a sitter for the evening. Since we have three young kids, getting a night out without them almost never happens. We are torn on what to do. Option one is splurging on a super nice steakhouse dinner with great cocktails and staying put. Option two is doing something a little more casual for dinner and hopping around a couple of different bars after. For those of you who rarely get kid-free nights, which route do you usually prefer?

- War of the Woods rain game on Friday
We almost turned around in the parking lot when the sky opened up right before kickoff! So glad we stayed though. My middle schooler insisted on sitting with her friends near the student section, so she came home looking like a drowned rat, but she swore it was the best game of the year. The Highlanders running game was tough to stop on that wet turf.

- 50 million to Houston to stop annexation?
Out here in Woodforest we watch Township business pretty closely because whatever happens with taxes and development over there impacts traffic and shopping for the rest of us. Watching from the outside, paying fifty million just to get another city to leave you alone sounds wild at first glance, but I remember those endless neighborhood sign wars during the incorporation election. If this agreement keeps Houston away without forcing everyone into another bitter election, it sounds like a decent trade off.
