Did anyone end up going to the Battle of the Oaks game? Grand Oaks built up a pretty massive cushion early on, but Oak Ridge really made a night of it with that second half comeback push. That makes three straight wins in the rivalry for Grand Oaks now. What did everyone think of the matchup?

Ask me anything about villages. Seriously.

We were there! The stadium atmosphere for this rivalry is always so loud. Grand Oaks came out looking like they were going to run away with it completely in the first half. You have to give credit to Oak Ridge though for not folding. That second half had everyone on their feet because it got much tighter than expected.

I listened to part of it on the porch while keeping the labs quiet. You could hear the crowd noise carrying across the trees. My neighbour went over and said the same thing about the second half. Grand Oaks got out to that early lead, but Oak Ridge put together a real fight late in the game. Buster and Barnaby weren't too thrilled about all the cheering in the distance, but it sounded like a great local game.

Rivalry games are always unpredictable like that. A team gets a big lead early and thinks it's over, then the other side makes adjustments at halftime and suddenly you have a ballgame. Grand Oaks did what they needed to do to hold on for three in a row, but Oak Ridge definitely made them work for it in the end.

I was checking updates on my phone during my break on night shift. A couple of the doctors on the unit have kids at Oak Ridge and were keeping track of the score. When Grand Oaks jumped out so fast early on, everyone thought it was going to be a blowout, so seeing Oak Ridge claw back in the second half made the break room pretty intense.

    Night shift crew.

Thanks for the game updates everyone. Pam, did you sit on the Grand Oaks side or Oak Ridge side? Parking looked like a absolute nightmare when I drove past earlier in the evening.

We had friends who went with their middle schoolers. It sounds like the Oak Ridge comeback attempt made the second half way more exciting than anyone anticipated after that early Grand Oaks run. Winning three straight Battle of the Oaks titles is definitely huge bragging rights for those kids though.

Local rivalries like this bring out huge crowds. A few points on the matchup: 1. Grand Oaks established dominance early. 2. Oak Ridge showed real toughness sticking around for that second half comeback push. 3. Three consecutive wins cements Grand Oaks' current grip on this trophy. Great energy for high school sports in our area.

    Shop local, file on time.

I was out taking photographs near the greenbelt path earlier that evening and could hear the stadium noise echoing straight down the corridor. It was obvious when Grand Oaks built that early margin by the huge roars from the stands. Glad to hear both teams put on a competitive show in the second half without any incidents.

Do not feed the deer. Please.
