I saw that Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center posted photos of the NICU infants dressed up in Halloween costumes by the hospital staff. They put together little outfits for the newborns to bring some joy to the families, and it brought back a lot of memories from when our toddler had to spend time in the unit after birth over on College Park Drive. Specialized newborn care right here in Montgomery County is something you hope you never need, but you are so grateful for when you do. Did anyone else here have a baby in the NICU at Memorial Hermann? How was your experience with the nurses and doctors there?

Our daughter spent eight days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hermann when she was born. Walking into that room for the first time with all the monitors and specialized equipment is overwhelming, but the medical team on College Park Drive made every step manageable for us. The nurses were attentive, talked us through every single test result, and made sure we felt completely comfortable holding her even with the monitoring wires attached. Seeing those Halloween costume photos made me think back to the milestone cards the nursing staff made for our daughter's bassinet while we were there.

(My son spent about ten days in the NICU at Memorial Hermann right after he was born six years ago, so seeing those costume pictures hit close to home.) I was working early commercial electrical shifts down in Houston back then and rushing straight over to the hospital on College Park Drive every afternoon. The nurses in that unit were absolute angels. They kept me updated on his breathing progress and weight gains every single shift, and they never made me feel like I was in the way when I was sitting by his crib late at night. You never plan on needing specialized newborn care when you go in to deliver, but having that level of support right here in The Woodlands made a terrifying week much easier to handle.

Thanks for sharing those experiences. It really is a special team over on College Park Drive. When you are sitting in the NICU staring at monitors all day, those thoughtful gestures like the milestone cards or dressing up the infants for Halloween mean so much to parents trying to stay positive.

My daughter delivered our youngest grandson at Memorial Hermann a few years back and he ended up staying in the NICU for a little over a week lol. The staff took incredible care of him and made sure my daughter and son in law knew exactly what was happening every step of the way. It is a great facility to have close by for families across Montgomery County.
