- Experiences with the NICU team at Memorial Hermann on College Park Drive
(My son spent about ten days in the NICU at Memorial Hermann right after he was born six years ago, so seeing those costume pictures hit close to home.) I was working early commercial electrical shifts down in Houston back then and rushing straight over to the hospital on College Park Drive every afternoon. The nurses in that unit were absolute angels. They kept me updated on his breathing progress and weight gains every single shift, and they never made me feel like I was in the way when I was sitting by his crib late at night. You never plan on needing specialized newborn care when you go in to deliver, but having that level of support right here in The Woodlands made a terrifying week much easier to handle.

- Which local Halloween events are y'all planning to take the kids to this week around the area?
Appreciate the quick replies (and sorry Sam, I did a quick scan on my phone during lunch break but missed the earlier threads). Are any of those community festivals between the 29th and the 1st better suited for a first grader who gets overwhelmed by huge crowds?

- Which local Halloween events are y'all planning to take the kids to this week around the area?
Trying to map out our schedule for Halloween week with my six year old (my son is at that age where he wants to do every single costume event if we let him). I know there are usually a bunch of trunk-or-treats and neighborhood trick-or-treating gatherings scattered across the area from Wednesday the 29th through Saturday the 1st. What local events or village center activities are y'all heading to this year? Looking for safe weekend options where parking isn't a total nightmare.

- Anyone planning to go to the Montgomery County Nutcracker Market this year
I took my six-year-old son to something similar last autumn (he actually enjoyed looking at all the wooden toys and crafts while I browsed). I usually try to swing by the Montgomery County Nutcracker Market to handle early holiday gifts for my family back in east Texas. It is a solid setup if you want to support regional small businesses instead of ordering everything off Amazon. The home decor vendor booths usually have neat handcrafted pieces that you do not see in regular retail stores.

- Has anyone installed a synthetic putting green in their backyard?
My neighbor put one in about two years ago (and my son thinks it is his personal playground whenever we go over for cookouts). From what I saw on his job, the prep work took twice as long as actually laying the grass. They brought in a small compactor to lock the crushed rock down because the ground here shifts so much when it dries out. Also make sure you check your village standard rules before you pay a deposit (especially if it can be seen from any path or side yard). You definitely do not want to put down 300 square feet of synthetic turf only to get a letter in the mail about non-conforming materials.

- Anyone heading out to the College Park vs Grand Oaks game tonight?
(My son and I were looking for something fun to do tonight after I wrapped up early on the jobsite, so we decided to buy tickets on a whim.) He loves going to the stadium and watching the high school bands perform at halftime. It is going to be a loud crowd given how much this game matters for both Conroe ISD teams in the playoff race.

- H-E-B Wine Walk at The Woodlands Resort this Thursday
Smart move on the Uber! (My buddy tried parking on site last time and spent half his evening hunting for a spot.) I am dropping my son off with his grandparents Thursday evening so I can check out the craft beer selections and live music for a couple hours. Hope yall have a great night out!

- Does anyone go to the Junior League Holiday Market every year?
I took my son last year (he was five at the time and obsessed with seeing the big guy in red). We ended up going on Saturday morning because of my work schedule during the week, and while it was definitely busy, the setup for photos with Santa was super easy to navigate. He loved looking at all the big seasonal decorations while we waited in line. We picked up some snacks from the food vendors right after, which kept him happy while I grabbed a couple of gifts for my sister. If you do end up having to go on Saturday, just try to get there right when it opens so you beat the mid-day rush.

- Moving down to unsold seats at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
I went down to the box office window before a show last season (took my son out for dinner nearby first and saw open seats online) to ask if they could move us up to closer unsold spots. The staff at the window were very polite, but they explained that any seat movement or upgrade has to go strictly through the official ticketing app, which automatically charges the standard exchange fee. When we went inside, the ushers at the section entrances were checking everyone's phone screens every single time we walked back down to our seats.

- Sit-down burger options around here?
I usually swing by Fielding's on the way home from the Houston jobsites (I get off at Research Forest anyway so it's right there). The wood grill smell hits you the second you walk in and after an hour in traffic it's nice to just sit down and let someone else cook for a change. They've got a decent bar if you need a beer with that burger too.

- Wedding photographer for my daughter?
I shot my brother's wedding out at April Sound (nothing fancy but waterfront was nice) and we used JW Baugh too, Jenny did exactly what your daughter's looking for, just moved around quietly and got people being themselves. My son was flower boy and kept goofing off during the ceremony and somehow she got a picture of it that everyone loves instead of just deleting it. Prices were fair for what we got and she had everything back to us in maybe three weeks.
