  • Confirm the delivery timeline for the photos.

My daughter got engaged last month (!!) and apparently photographer is the first thing you book. She wants candid, not stiff poses. Budget matters but this is not an area to cheap out. Who have you used for weddings around here?

Congrats to your daughter! We used JW Baugh Photography for my son's wedding and Jenny was amazing. She's been doing this for a long time and it shows. The whole day was low pressure, and she was great at catching all the real moments, not just posed shots. It actually started raining right before the ceremony and she handled it like a pro, found a new spot for photos super fast and nobody even got stressed. The pictures were beautiful.

For that candid style your daughter wants, I highly recommend RKM Photography. Rebecca is just so easy to be around. She did our family photos last fall and my kids, who normally hate having their picture taken, actually had fun with her. We got the gallery back so fast, and she got some amazing candid shots. I know she does a lot of weddings. Her website is https://www.rkmphotography.com/ if you want to see her work.

Definitely some good names here. My advice from a business perspective is to get a few package lists in writing and be very clear on what's included, like the number of edited photos and the delivery timeline. This is important no matter who you pick. A friend of mine recently used Campbell Brand Photography and said the value was incredible for the quality of the package she got. She said the photographer Danielle was really fun to work with too.

    Shop local, file on time.

I shot my brother's wedding out at April Sound (nothing fancy but waterfront was nice) and we used JW Baugh too, Jenny did exactly what your daughter's looking for, just moved around quietly and got people being themselves. My son was flower boy and kept goofing off during the ceremony and somehow she got a picture of it that everyone loves instead of just deleting it. Prices were fair for what we got and she had everything back to us in maybe three weeks.

We had a neighbor use JW Baugh for her daughter's wedding two years ago and she still raves about it, so I'd second that one. My sister used someone from Conroe for her wedding and honestly regretted not going with someone local who knew the venues better. One practical thing we learned from her mistake, make sure whoever you pick has shot at your daughter's venue before, or at least does a walkthrough with her ahead of time.
