- Which local Halloween events are y'all planning to take the kids to this week around the area?
Our grandkids are coming over for a couple of the daytime trick-or-treating events this week lol. It is nice having so many safe community festivals spread out between Wednesday the 29th and Saturday the 1st across different parts of the area. Keeps everyone from rushing into one spot all at once.

- Experiences with the NICU team at Memorial Hermann on College Park Drive
My daughter delivered our youngest grandson at Memorial Hermann a few years back and he ended up staying in the NICU for a little over a week lol. The staff took incredible care of him and made sure my daughter and son in law knew exactly what was happening every step of the way. It is a great facility to have close by for families across Montgomery County.

- Anyone planning to go to the Montgomery County Nutcracker Market this year
My wife goes almost every single year lol. She always comes home with armfuls of boutique clothing and handcrafted holiday gifts for the adult kids. It is nice seeing regional small businesses bring their items out. I usually stay home or play a round of golf, but she really enjoys browsing through all the vendor booths.

- Anyone heading out to the College Park vs Grand Oaks game tonight?
Thursday night football is always great local entertainment lol. Both of these teams have worked hard to stay in the postseason conversation this late in the season, so it should be a close one.

- Has anyone installed a synthetic putting green in their backyard?
Whatever installer you talk to, make sure you ask them about the crushed granite base depth and the infill type lol. Down here with our clay soil and heavy downpours, if they do not excavate deep enough and compact it right, that green will end up with low spots within two seasons. On warranty work, you want to get two separate things in writing. The manufacturer turf warranty usually covers UV fading for 8 to 15 years, but you need to check what the installer offers on labor and drainage guarantees. If water pools on a 300 square foot green, your ball roll is going to be ruined pretty fast lol.

- Halloween SpookTacular at The Woodlands Children's Museum crowd questions
My daughter is bringing our toddler grandson down for the Halloween SpookTacular at The Woodlands Children's Museum this year lol. I know it is a two-day event with slime-making stations, storytime sessions, magic shows, and that non-scary bat cave setup. Just wondering how packed it usually gets inside and what time of day is best to bring a two year old.

- Does anyone go to the Junior League Holiday Market every year?
My wife goes every single year with a couple of her friends, and they always make a full day out of it on Friday. She brings back all kinds of neat stuff from the shopping vendors lol. It is nice knowing the ticket money stays local and goes toward community grant programs for Montgomery County. I usually just stay home or head to the golf course, but she always says Friday is way better than Saturday if you want to dodge the heaviest crowds.

- Moving down to unsold seats at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
Yeah security at the Pavilion does not play around lol. I head over after finishing up work in Carlton Woods sometimes and even if the lower section has plenty of space, the ushers will ask to look at your ticket right on your phone screen before letting you step onto the aisle steps. I would not count on just sliding down into empty rows without getting asked to head back to your assigned seat.

- Bulk landscape supply yard recs around Spring or The Woodlands
I'll add from the golf side of things, when we bring in material at Carlton Woods we always mark out exactly where the dump should go with spray paint or stakes so the driver doesn't have to guess. Makes a huge difference, especially if you're not home when they arrive. And if you're planning to move it all yourself over a weekend, think about renting a second wheelbarrow. Sounds overkill but once you start shoveling five or six yards you'll realize how much time that saves. One more thing, wear gloves with actual grip on them, not just cotton garden gloves. Your hands will blister up fast otherwise.

- Sushi options for family night vs date night?
Fukuda is solid for Friday family nights if you get there before the rush, like others said. Kokoro on Waterway Ave is definitely the date night choice if you want to make it special, sit at the bar and have the handrolls made in front of you. I haven't been to Sapporo Izakaya in a while but it worked fine for a casual family meal when we tried it last year.
