- Oct 2, 2026, 5:19 PM#1Got family driving down in a couple weeks and my wife put me on breakfast duty. Where are you taking people for brunch lately around here? Looking for somewhere solid where we can actually sit down and eat good food.
Been here since it was all pines.
- Oct 2, 2026, 5:29 PM#2If you want something genuinely creative, head straight to Fielding's Wood Grill on Research Forest Drive. Their Bloody Mary and mimosa flights are unmatched, and the kitchen actually puts real thought into creative takes on brunch classics instead of just dumping cold eggs on a plate.
If it opened on Market Street, I've been.
- Oct 2, 2026, 5:45 PM#3Fielding's is fine if you want to spend a bundle on fancy drink flights, but paying massive markups kills me. If you want chef-driven food from Austin Simmons without the full-service price, The Kitchen on Research Forest is right down the road. It is counter service, but the wine is sold at retail prices and the food quality is top notch.
Cheaper taxes, longer drive.
- Oct 2, 2026, 5:59 PM#4We recently tried Hearsay on the Waterway when my parents visited, and everyone loved it. My husband got the brunch steak, and my mom really enjoyed their French toast and pancakes. Sitting right by the water was so pleasant for out-of-town guests!
Ex-Chicagoan. Yes, I know about the humidity.
- Oct 2, 2026, 6:12 PM#5Appreciate the ideas so far folks. Carl, how does ordering work at The Kitchen if you have a group of five or six? Do you just line up first and hope a table opens up?

- Oct 2, 2026, 6:28 PMAccepted answer#6Harold, for a group that size at The Kitchen, you order at the counter first and then find a table, though during peak weekend hours it can get a bit tight. If you prefer full table service for a group without counter ordering, Sixty Vines over at Market Street does a fantastic Sunday brunch. They have 60 wines on tap, and the atmosphere is very open and comfortable for family gatherings. Another excellent option if your family likes Mexican flavor is Xalisko on Lake Woodlands Drive. It is easily the top Mexican brunch spot in town.
2004 transplant. Still call it Randalls.
- Oct 2, 2026, 6:35 PM#7Xalisko is the move. Get there early.
Retired. Walking the paths since the paths were dirt.
- Oct 2, 2026, 6:48 PM#8We discuss brunch every three months on here, but since you asked nicely: if you want liquor flights go to Fielding's, if you want Mexican go to Xalisko, if you want 60 wines on tap go to Sixty Vines. Just plan ahead so you are not waiting around with hungry relatives.
This has been covered. Twice.
- Oct 2, 2026, 6:57 PM#9Sixty Vines at Market Street is always our go-to when my in-laws are visiting! It is so roomy, and the adults love the wine tap selection while everyone relaxes. Hope you guys have a wonderful visit with your family, Harold!

- Oct 9, 2026, 8:38 AM#10I've taken my parents to Sixty Vines a few times when they visit, and it works really well for groups because the space is open and you don't feel crammed in. The wine on tap thing is fun for them to try different pours without committing to a full bottle. Just be ready for it to fill up late morning on Sundays.
- Oct 13, 2026, 8:55 AM#11We usually do The Kitchen when friends come into town because everyone can order exactly what they want and the food quality is better than most sit-down places. The counter setup is actually easier with kids since they can grab their food faster and we're not waiting forever for someone to take orders. Only downside is finding a big table on Sunday mornings, so I'd get there right when they open.
- Oct 19, 2026, 10:22 AM#12For a family crowd, The Toasted Yolk Cafe. Portions are huge and the food comes out fast even when it's packed. Get the Churro Donuts for the table. They have mimosas and bloody marys too if the adults want one.
Fountain show at 7, meltdown at 7:15.
- Oct 19, 2026, 1:40 PM#13Churro donuts might win over my mother in law, appreciate it. Do they take reservations or is it just show up?
Been here since it was all pines.
- Oct 19, 2026, 3:03 PM#14We've always just walked in. Wait was never long for us, maybe 15 minutes on a Sunday.

- Oct 21, 2026, 9:15 AM#15Snooze is fun if your group likes trying stuff. The pancake flight is the move, we did Pineapple Upside Down and Sweet Potato and everyone was stealing bites. Just know the weekend wait can be real, go early.
Ask me anything about villages. Seriously.
- Oct 24, 2026, 12:50 PM#16Bosscat Kitchen. Fruity Pebbles French Toast. That's the whole review. Ok fine, the spicy bloody mary is also great and the service has been excellent every time. Weekend brunch starts at 10.
Low and slow, y'all.
- Oct 26, 2026, 11:33 AM#17Whiskey Cake is our pick when family visits. Chicken and waffles plus the build your own bloody mary bar keeps my dad entertained for an hour. The menu changes with what's in season so it doesn't feel like the same meal every time.
New here, be nice
- Oct 26, 2026, 9:10 PM#18My dad would absolutely camp out at a bloody mary bar. Whiskey Cake might be the Saturday and Toasted Yolk Sunday. Thanks everybody.

- Oct 29, 2026, 9:48 AM#19If you have little ones or picky eaters, Black Walnut is the easy one. Opens at 7, huge menu, nothing stressful about it. My eggs benedict has been the same good every visit.
Retired. My only deadline is tee time.
- Nov 1, 2026, 9:30 AM#20Agree on Bosscat for a celebration brunch. We did a birthday there and the energy was great. Would not take my grandma though, it gets lively.
