Hi neighbors! My in-laws are visiting next weekend and requested a good Tex-Mex night with sizzling fajitas. Since we are still fairly new to the area, I would love some local recommendations for a nice family dinner.

If you go to Goode Co Kitchen & Cantina over on Six Pines, fair warning that the bill will surprise you if you are a first-timer. High quality room and top-notch fajitas, but definitely upscale pricing.

    Cheaper taxes, longer drive.

Goode Co is completely worth it though! The upscale dining room is lovely, and their fajitas and margaritas are stellar. It feels like a real treat when family comes to visit.

If it opened on Market Street, I've been.

If you do not mind a short drive, take Woodlands Parkway down to 2978 and head about 10 minutes out to Rita's Cantina on TX-249 in Pinehurst. It is located in a nondescript strip center, but chef Javier Gonzalez and his wife Judy run a wonderful place. Their sizzling fajitas and combination plates are fantastic for a relaxed family meal.

Thank you all so much for these suggestions! Rita's sounds wonderful, though my father-in-law prefers not to drive too far. Are there any good spots right around Hughes Landing or along the I-45 corridor that work well for groups?

Escalante's Fine Tex-Mex at Hughes Landing is great for that! We take our kids there all the time. The fresh guacamole and white queso are huge crowd favorites to start. My husband always gets the beef empanadas while I love the spinach enchiladas, but the fajitas are great for sharing too.

Casa Medina off I-45 in Spring. Family-owned spot with solid Tex-Mex. Order the avocado margarita.

Retired. Walking the paths since the paths were dirt.

Nobody mentioned Nacho Padre's on Rayford Rd yet. It is run by a longtime Black Walnut executive. They skip marinating the fajitas entirely and use a dry rub instead, which gives them a completely different style if you want to try something unique.

    This has been covered. Twice.

Nacho Padre's dry rub is interesting, but for a classic sit-down family dinner near Hughes Landing, Escalante's or Goode Co on Six Pines are going to fit your group best.

    Shop local, file on time.

I deliver all around Town Center and Six Pines most days (package routes keep me fed around here) and Goode Co really does draw the big family groups on weekends. Their patio fills up fast if the weather's nice so you might want to call ahead for a table. Escalante's at Hughes Landing is another solid pick, parking is easier there than Six Pines on a Saturday night.
