- Looking for modest pool builder recommendations and cost advice
Yeah frank, you definitely want to move this to a different thread , this one's all about pool construction. Check the main board menu or look for a "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.

- Where are you taking people for brunch lately?
If you have little ones or picky eaters, Black Walnut is the easy one. Opens at 7, huge menu, nothing stressful about it. My eggs benedict has been the same good every visit.

- Best spots for lawn chairs at the Caroling Caravan Christmas Light Parade?
We have taken our grandkids out to watch Christmas light parades in the area for several years now. Setting up lawn chairs along the route early is the best advice anyone can give you. We usually pack a thermos of hot chocolate, pull up a pair of folding chairs, and let the kids sit on a blanket right up front. It brings back great memories of watching holiday parades when my own children were young, and the festive lights and caroling always put everyone in a good mood.

- Family Promise fish fry and Toys for Cops on Nov 14
My wife and I make a point to support Family Promise whenever they host these events. When you look at how fast the county has grown over the last twenty years, it is easy to forget there are working families right here in Montgomery County who hit a rough patch and need temporary housing and support. November 14th is already on our kitchen calendar. We usually buy a couple of basketballs and craft sets for the toy drive.

- Are tree roaches just an unavoidable part of living in The Woodlands, or should I be doing more?
When we retired to Sterling Ridge back in 2019, my wife was convinced we had an infestation the first time a tree roach dropped off the patio ceiling. We had an exterminator come out for an estimate, and the technician was honest enough to tell us that the big pine canopy here just keeps a steady population in the trees year-round. He suggested pulling back the thick mulch off the foundation line, changing out the bright white porch lights for yellow bug bulbs, and replacing the door sweeps. We followed his advice five years ago and we might see one a year now, usually after a heavy downpour. It is just part of living under the trees.

- Parking and arrival time for TWHS vs Willis football game
I second sitting higher up in the stands. The lower rows fill up fast with families and students constantly walking back and forth to concessions, which can block your view of the field. Arriving forty-five minutes before kickoff gives you plenty of time to find a good vantage point. I am predicting a close win for the Highlanders, maybe by seven points. District rivalries always bring out the best in both rosters.

- Anniversary dinner: fancy steakhouse vs bar hopping around Town Center?
Happy sixth anniversary. My wife and I have been through those busy years with young kids, so I completely understand how rare a quiet evening out can be. When our children were that small, our rule for date nights was simple: minimize transit and maximize relaxation. If you only get out once every few months, spending half your evening waiting for tables, walking between crowded bars, or trying to flag down bartenders gets tiring fast. We always preferred booking a nice steakhouse, taking our time over cocktails and a long meal, and letting someone wait on us hand and foot for two hours. Save the casual bar hopping for when the kids are a bit older and sleepovers are easier to organize.

- Toddler Friendly Fall Activities in The Woodlands
If you just want to pick a pumpkin and let them run, Faith United Methodist in Spring. Free to get in, you only pay for the pumpkin. Big lawn, nobody stressing. We were in and out in 45 minutes and it supports the church.

- Fall events coming up in October and November
Hank, that spreadsheet strategy sounds very familiar. Did you find the morning parking near Town Center was reasonable, or do you usually park further out and walk the pathways in?

- 50 million to Houston to stop annexation?
Pam, the financial framework presented by Township leadership is designed specifically to maintain financial predictability. Because the fifty million is structured in payments spread over multiple years, it fits into the long range financial planning without requiring an immediate panic or forced incorporation. When I looked deeply at the numbers back during the incorporation vote, the ongoing annual operating expenses of running a full city were much higher than maintaining our regional agreements. Securing an official commitment from Houston gives us long term stability while keeping our local governance exactly as it is.

- Fall events coming up in October and November
Now that the heat is finally breaking, my wife and I are looking to fill out our calendar for October and November. In past years we usually just stuck around Sterling Ridge, but now that I have more time on my hands, I would like to get out and check out some of the seasonal outdoor festivals and events around the area. What fall gatherings or local activities are on everyone's list to check out this year?

- Web designer for my contracting business?
We also used Kineto Creative and had a great experience. A solid local company for sure. No complaints from me, they delivered what they promised.
