  Whiskey Cake is our pick when family visits. Chicken and waffles plus the build your own bloody mary bar keeps my dad entertained for an hour. The menu changes with what's in season so it doesn't feel like the same meal every time.

  Sorry if this has been asked before, we just relocated from Ohio to Sterling Ridge this summer and I am still trying to figure out which high schools belong to which areas! Is Grand Oaks in Conroe ISD or a different district? The games sound like so much fun, my middle schooler is wanting to go to one soon!

• Recommendations for a good male barber in Panther Creek or near the Mall area?

  Sorry if this has been asked already, we just moved to Sterling Ridge from Ohio a few months ago and I am still trying to figure out where everything is. I currently drive about 20 minutes down to Spring for my haircuts, but I really want to find a reliable male barber right here in the neighborhood. I noticed 18|8 near Whole Foods when we were over near the Mall area, but I am always a little skeptical of Google reviews since people get asked to leave them. Does anyone have first hand experience with them or another barber around Panther Creek or Town Center?

  Thank you so much Steph and CochransDogDad! That is such a relief to hear. I was worried I would get stuck out there for hours if I went back out for grocery shopping. Is Kuykendahl usually the best backup route when something like that happens on I-45?

  Sorry if this is a silly question, we just relocated from Ohio to Sterling Ridge and I am still learning my way around. I was heading back on I-45 earlier today and got stuck in absolute standstill traffic. Someone on the radio said an eighteen wheeler caught fire and spilled cooking oil across the roadway near The Woodlands. It was total gridlock for a while. Does anyone know if emergency crews cleared the scene and if traffic is moving normally again, or are there still major backups on the feeder road?

  Sorry if this has been asked before, we just moved here from Ohio last month and are still figuring out the area. I took my teenage son out to play pool at Barney's on Sawdust Road recently, but honestly the smoke inside was just way too heavy for us to stay very long. Does anyone know of any non-smoking spots or clean places with pool tables around here or nearby?

  Sorry if this has been asked before, we just moved down from Ohio earlier this year and I am still trying to figure out all the wildlife around Sterling Ridge. I was sitting by our back window this morning and spotted what I am pretty sure was a female Baltimore Oriole! She was hanging out right by our bird bath and the lawn sprinkler alongside our regular yard birds. I know the hummingbirds are starting to move out for the season, so it was really cool to see new migrants coming through. A neighbor mentioned that if you put cut oranges outside it helps attract them. Has anyone else seen orioles in their yard lately?
