Where do you take out of town family for dinner?

   My parents visit twice a year and I have run out of ideas. They are not adventurous eaters but they do like a nice room and a slow dinner. Where are you taking family when they come in? Interested in places you have actually been recently rather than the ones everybody names by reflex.

   We do an early dinner somewhere with a patio and then walk it off. The walk is honestly half of why the visit goes well. Older parents get worn out sitting in a loud room for two hours.

   Go on a weeknight if you can. Same food, half the wait, and you can actually hear each other.

   Cheaper taxes, longer drive.

   Second the weeknight. We stopped trying to do family dinners on a Saturday and everybody is happier.

   Nobody ever asks the obvious question. What do your parents actually like? Half the recommendations on threads like this are people naming their own favorite place.

   Been here since it was all pines.

   Fair hit. Dad wants a steak, mom wants something with fish on the menu and a quiet table. That narrows it.

   That narrows it a lot actually. Call ahead and ask for a table away from the bar, most places will do it if you are early.

   2004 transplant. Still call it Randalls.
