- Has anyone here had kids involved with local fencing clubs
A couple of moms in my Creekside group were talking about this exact news lol! It is so cool that local kids are going to world competitions and bringing back 11 medals in two weeks. My kids are still obsessed with the splash pad at Rob Fleming so we are not ready for fencing swords yet, but it is awesome to hear our area has world class coaching if they want to try it when they are older lol.

- Halloween events and activities around town
Thanks for the ideas everyone! @SterlingSteph good luck with the Mario costume, that sounds so cute lol. Did Rob Fleming Park require advance registration for their Halloween event or can you just walk up?

- Halloween events and activities around town
Does anyone have Halloween plans in The Woodlands area besides just standard neighborhood trick-or-treating? I am curious what events or activities y'all are hitting up around town and if anyone is dressing up lol.

- Thoughts on the $50 million Houston buyout agreement
It really is a relief to see this finalized lol. We moved to Creekside Park a while back and people used to confuse Harris County borders with Houston annexation risks all the time. Knowing that The Woodlands worked out the $50 million buyout to permanently end the sales tax sharing agreement gives everyone a lot of peace of mind. It makes planning for local services so much easier when you know another city cannot just step in and change the rules later on.

- Looking at Cochran's Crossing for a family with toddlers
Cochran's Crossing is fantastic for that age group. Shadowbend Park and Bear Branch are right there and great for toddlers. My kids loved the splash pads and playgrounds when they were that little. Moving into the area with a 2 and 3 year old can feel like a lot to navigate at first, but having the pathway system right outside your door makes stroller walks so easy without worrying about street traffic lol.

- Oak Ridge High theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors
Thanks nyr_nyy_nyg_nyk! That is really good to hear. Do you happen to know if tickets for those evening showtimes from October 29 through October 31 can be bought at the door, or should we definitely buy tickets online in advance?

- Oak Ridge High theatre production of Little Shop of Horrors
My middle schooler was asking about seeing a musical and I noticed the Oak Ridge High School Theatre department is putting on Little Shop of Horrors on stage in their auditorium. The dates listed are October 29 through October 31 for their evening showtimes. Has anyone taken their kids to theatre productions at Oak Ridge High before? Just wondering what to expect for parking and if it is pretty standard for local families and community members to attend lol.

- Dealing with aggressive cardinals and blue jays at backyard bird feeders
We had the exact same issue down in Creekside Park last spring! The cardinals would sit on our main feeder tray and dive-bomb anything smaller that tried to hop on, lol. We ended up putting two small finch feeders over on the side of the house near the bushes and scattered a little dish in the front yard tree. The tiny Pine Warblers are so sweet to watch once they actually get a turn to eat without being bullied away.

- Moving up from Houston with a one year old son and picking the right village
We moved to Creekside Park a few years back for the newer home layouts and being right next to the George Mitchell Nature Preserve lol. If she wants young families with little kids playing outside, Creekside is packed with them. We spend half our summer afternoons at the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center or walking the trails heading down toward Spring Creek. Just make sure she knows Creekside Park is down in Harris County and Tomball ISD, not Conroe ISD like the older villages, so taxes and school district boundaries are slightly different.

- Southbound I-45 hazmat spill backup through town
My husband had to run errands down toward Spring this morning and said it was a total parking lot lol. He saw emergency crews on the North Freeway blocking off the lanes while they dealt with the spill. Glad everyone stayed safe, but man, whenever I-45 southbound gets shut down like that through town, the whole area just freezes up.

- College Park vs Conroe High football game this Friday
We are taking the younger kids to watch the bands and cheerleaders perform lol. It really is such a fun atmosphere when College Park and Conroe High play each other, especially with so much riding on the playoff picture right now. Hope the rain stays away for Friday night!

- Has anyone checked out the new Spectators location in Conroe?
My husband and a few guys from work stopped by the new Spectators in Conroe after a round of golf last weekend lol. He said it was super spacious and had plenty of screens tuned to different games, so you do not have to fight for a good view of the game you actually want to watch. We live down in Creekside Park so it is a bit of a drive for us, but he said the service was quick and the menu had all the standard sports bar food you would expect.

- Anyone gone to the Water Lantern Festival with family?
We took our kids last year and had a really good time lol. Decorating the lanterns at the tables beforehand kept them busy for a good hour while we listened to the music and grabbed food from the trucks. The launch at sunset on the water is super pretty, especially for the little ones. Just make sure you arrive early enough to claim a spot and finish decorating before dusk gets too close.

- Looking for recommendations for a local vet for a large rescue dog
Aww congrats on your rescue pup lol! Big dogs really are the best cuddlers. When we got our larger dog, I made sure to avoid clinics that try to push unnecessary add-ons at every single visit without giving you clear options first. A good vet will be honest about what is essential for wellness and what can wait.

- Township Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance registration questions
My husband took our oldest daughter last year and they had a blast lol. They do a full dinner and the dancing and themed activities kept her busy the whole evening. Definitely jump on registration right away though, all the moms in my group talk about how fast spots go every spring.
