Anyone planning to take their family to Boni's Nutcracker this year?

I saw that Boni's World Dance Center is celebrating its 40th anniversary performance of The Nutcracker this season, which seems like a huge milestone for a local studio. Is it mostly local youth dancers in the cast? We were thinking about taking our kids to the Saturday evening performance.

Boni's World Dance Center has put on such a lovely production over the decades, and seeing all the local youth dancers up on stage is always a highlight of the season. A 40th anniversary performance is a wonderful milestone for our arts community, and the dedication from these young performers is top notch.
Yes, your kid can start at five.

Those young kids train so hard for months leading up to December, balancing late afternoon studio rehearsals right after the school bell rings. It takes incredible discipline. The Saturday evening performance is always very popular with families because parents do not have to stress about rushing straight from the Friday afternoon car line.

My personal move for the Saturday evening performance was always grabbing a heavy winter stout at a taproom nearby beforehand. Nothing sets the holiday mood quite like a solid local craft beer before sitting through two hours of ballet.

Given that this is their 40th anniversary performance, high-demand slots like the Saturday evening performance will sell out significantly faster than a typical year. From a simple budgeting and seat selection perspective, buying early prevents you from getting pushed to the extreme side aisles.

My husband travels a lot for work (he is out of town half the month) so the Saturday evening performance is honestly the only time slot that ever works for our crazy schedule. The kids love seeing the young dancers on stage. Just make sure you leave the house early because traffic in the area on a December Saturday night gets messy fast.

I was watching a pair of red-shouldered hawks near the tree line by the venue right before showtime last December. Keep an eye out for deer near the greenbelt edges when walking back to your car after the evening show.
Binoculars in the glovebox, always.
