How are we feeling about the high school football playoff chances after Week 10?

With both The Woodlands High School and College Park pulling off wins in Week 10 to lock up their postseason spots, the district playoff race is set. It is always fun seeing local high schools make the bracket, even if stadium traffic and parking are a nightmare whenever postseason games roll around. Is anyone planning to travel for the opening playoff round, or are you staying local? How far do you think our teams can go in the postseason this year?

Do not forget about Willis High School either. They also got a big win in Week 10 to lock up their playoff position alongside The Woodlands and College Park, so all three of our local Montgomery County programs are heading into the postseason bracket. I usually try to grab tickets if the first-round venue is close by, but parking at some of these playoff sites fills up an hour before kickoff. It will be interesting to see how the district seeds shake out once official game times are posted.

It is so exciting for the kids lol. My daughter isn't even in high school yet but she loves all the energy around the sports programs this time of year. Working night shift at Memorial Hermann makes going to games tricky though. If kickoff is on a Friday night before a weekend shift, I usually have to pass unless it is right in our backyard. Does anyone know if the postseason schedule is set yet or do we have to wait for the final district paperwork?

Before I commit to driving out to any playoff game, I always run through a quick mental checklist. First, stadium location and how bad I-45 will be during Friday evening rush hour. Second, whether tickets are sold online in advance or if you are stuck in a massive box office line. Third, clear bag policies so my wife does not have to walk back to the car. If it is a neutral site two hours away in heavy traffic, I will probably just follow the updates from home.

I feel the same way about logistics. Taking a toddler to a night game is a whole production, so I have my own set of rules before buying tickets. I always check if the stadium has decent stroller access, whether seating is completely packed, and how far the walk is from general parking. We love seeing College Park and TWHS do well, but if the kickoff is late or the weather turns ugly, catching the stream from the couch is much easier with a little one.
