Conversation overview

A resident asked for recommendations to humanely remove a family of squirrels from their attic and seal entry points. The conversation strongly favored The Critter Team, with multiple neighbors sharing positive experiences, while warning against two other companies for lack of warranty and poor service.

Top recommendation: The Critter Team

  • Same-day service availability
  • Checks attic to ensure all squirrels are out before sealing entry points so babies don't get trapped
  • High-quality metal soffit repair that blends in and holds up well
  • Veteran owned and family operated
  • Shows up on time and does what they promise
  • Trustworthy enough to let in while homeowners are away

Other options neighbors mentioned

Be cautious of

  • Critter One of Houston: Does not offer a warranty on expensive work (post #6)
  • AAAC Wildlife Removal: Poor communication with unreturned calls, patch work that didn't blend in and required additional painting by a handyman, feels like a large impersonal company (post #9)

Community takeaways

  • Make sure the removal service checks the attic to confirm all squirrels are out before sealing entry points to avoid trapping babies inside
  • Ask for a warranty on the exclusion work in case squirrels return through the same opening
  • Have the technician inspect the entire roofline for additional entry points you may have missed

We kept hearing a grinding noise in the attic, at first we thought it might be rats. Then we noticed a large squirrel on our roof with what looked to be smaller squirrels. Looking it up on Texas Parks and Wildlife it seems this is their second birthing season so I definitely have a family of squirrels that have moved in. I dont want them hurt but I need them out and the openings sealing up. Who do ya’ll recommend for squirrel removal?

The Critter Team provides squirrel removal in The Woodlands. They were out the same day we called and did a wonderful job sealing up the squirrel entry points.

Same day would be amazing, the grinding starts around 6am every morning lol. Were you worried about babies being in there when they sealed it up? That's my biggest fear, I don't want them trapped inside.

That was my worry too. They checked the attic first and made sure everyone was out before closing anything up. Nothing got stuck in there and we haven't heard a peep since.

We used Woodlands Wildlife Elimination. They got rid of the squirrels. It was very expensive but they did get them out. I probably should have called around first but at least they are gone.

Critter One of Houston sent out a very nice technician to our home but unfortunately they don’t offer a warranty for their work that is not cheap. They say they offer “high-quality, professional help” but if it’s actually high quality they would have a warranty on their over priced work. I’d avoid Critter One of Houston.

No warranty is a dealbreaker for me. If they come back through the same hole a month later I'm not paying twice. Thanks for the heads up.

I second The Critter Team. Veteran owned, family operated, does what they say they will do and shows up on time. Their squirrel exclusion work looked fantastic as well. Can’t even tell the soffit was damaged as badly as it was after they did their metal work.

Avoid AAAC Wildlife Removal, they claim to be full service but it was almost like I was the one doing the full service. I constantly had to call them and a few times I was sent to voice mail and never got a call back the same day. Their patch work on my home didn’t blend in at all and I had to hire a handyman to paint it to make it look better. Seems like they are a large company and I don’t like services that make me feel like just another number in the system.

Yeah had a very poor experience with AAAC, they were a nightmare to deal with.

Mike Garret from The Critter Team is awesome! We had a great experience with The Critter Team. We had to let them in while we were away and we felt completely comfortable with the team after meeting them. Great people.

Thank you all, this was super helpful. Called The Critter Team this morning and they're coming out tomorrow. Our soffit has a chewed corner too so it's good to hear their metal work holds up. Will report back.

Good call. Ask them to check the other side of the roofline too, ours had a second spot we never would have found.
