Sorry if this has been asked already, but I was reading that the Township is moving forward with plans to add new cell towers across the area to fix coverage gaps and help with emergency communications. I drop calls all the time whenever I am driving through Sterling Ridge or walking down our street, so I was wondering if anyone knows if specific locations have been picked out yet near residential streets or pathways? We just moved here from Ohio and I am still trying to figure out where the Township posts these kinds of planning updates.

Honestly I am so glad they are finally doing something about this. I lose service constantly when I am walking the dog or sitting in the car line at school (which is always when my husband tries to call me from his business trip). The dead zones around here are no joke. Hopefully they can get the planning steps finalized quickly because dropping calls in the middle of a neighborhood street is beyond frustrating.

The coverage gaps along the pathways are real, but I do hope Township officials take greenbelt impact into account as they finalize these tower placements. We have barred owls and red-shouldered hawks nesting all through the tree canopy near the trails. Emergency communications and reliable cell signal are necessary, but I just hope they keep the structures integrated near existing easements rather than cutting into deep greenbelt sections.

Just getting off my shift at Memorial Hermann. From a healthcare and safety standpoint, fixing those coverage dead spots is a huge deal. People get lost or have medical issues on the trail network or along dark stretches of neighborhood roads, and if your phone cannot place a 911 call because of poor service, that is a genuine emergency issue. Glad the Township is advancing this process.

Thank you NurseAtMemorial, that makes total sense about 911 calls on the pathways. That is actually really reassuring to know why it is such a priority. Does anyone know if the Township publishes the proposed location maps during the planning process before anything gets built?

Usually when the Township advances cell tower initiatives, the proposed sites go through planning review and public discussions before final approvals happen. As a realtor, buyers ask me about cell service as often as they ask about MUD taxes or school zones these days. Good coverage is a big selling point, and the Township typically looks at existing utility corridors or stealth installations like tree-camouflaged monopines to keep visual impact on nearby homes low while filling those coverage gaps.

Ask me anything about villages. Seriously.

I lose my signal almost every morning when I am out walking the labs near the creek line in Cochran's Crossing. Buster always stops to sniff around the greenbelt bridge and my podcast just stops buffering. It will be nice to have reliable service out there, especially for anyone who needs to call for help on the trails. Barnaby and Buster send their approval.

Car line every afternoon is an absolute dead zone for cell signal. Trying to pull up dismissal apps or take an emergency call from a parent when hundreds of cars gather in one spot is almost impossible. Having the Township move forward with actual plans and site selections to improve cellular reliability across the area is going to be a huge relief for school zones and neighborhoods alike.
