Sorry if this is not the right place for this. My dad passed in the spring back home and the move right after has made it all hit harder than I expected. I have never done counseling before and I honestly do not know where to start. If anyone is comfortable sharing, is there someone in The Woodlands you would recommend?

    New here, be nice

This is exactly the right place, and I am so sorry for your loss. I would recommend Nancy Baker, her practice is The Woodlands Counselor. I saw her after my mother passed away. She has a lot of experience specifically with grief, and she is just a very warm person. She is off Six Pines.

Do not feed the deer. Please.

Sorry for your loss. My recommendation is Nicole Daglis at the Resilience Center of Houston. It is a group practice over on New Trails Drive. A big plus for us was that they took our BCBS insurance, which made things much simpler. Grief is one of the things they handle. https://www.resiliencecenterhouston.com/locations/the-woodlands

I am so sorry to hear about your father. We had a great experience with Angela Doolittle over on Sawdust Road. We went to her for something different, but I know her main focus areas include grief and trauma. She also teaches at Lone Star, which we thought was impressive. Her number is (832) 779-4194.

I'm really sorry about your dad. I haven't been to counseling myself but my neighbor went to The Woodlands Counselor after losing her husband and said Nancy Baker was wonderful, really compassionate and patient. It's off Six Pines so not far from Creekside Park if that helps at all.

I lost my mom two years ago and it took me almost six months to finally call someone. I ended up going to the Resilience Center like CochransDogDad mentioned and it was worth it. They got me in pretty fast and the intake process was straightforward which helped since I was already overwhelmed with everything else.
